Histoire

For history buffs, here's some information about the origins of the château. This castle was first used as a manor house in 1583, when the de Vion family acquired the estate. It was a very simple building consisting solely of the main buildings and an advanced wing, with no moulding or mascaron.

All that remains of the moated castle is a section that clearly dates back to the 16th century. The conservation of these buildings and the beauty of the exhibition make this a most pleasant residence. Warée, a garden architect, made the most of the grounds of the château.

He had trees and shrubs planted in groups that contrasted and harmonised with each other; dark shades in the foreground, followed by ashen foliage and soft greens. The estate remained in the de Vion family until the early 20th century.
